As a Sports Scholar
I have spent my career at the intersection of law and sport, teaching, writing, and helping to build the national sports law community.
I serve on the Board of Directors for the Sports Lawyers Association and for the Fritz Pollard Alliance of coaches, scouts and executives of color in the National Football League, the National Sports Law Institute’s Board of Advisors, and the LawInSport Editorial Board.
In addition, I have served as a member of the NCAA’s Committees on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sport, the United States Anti-Doping Agency’s Anti-Doping Review Board and the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee’s Racial and Social Justice Expert Advisory Team.
As An Author
I have authored or co-authored five books in the sports law field:

As A Children’s Author
My most important job is being a dad to my three children, who inspired me to write the book closest to my heart, You Are My Favorite Story (Fair Share Publishing), a children’s picture book collaboration with my college and law school classmate, Shani King.
Together with illustrator John Jay Cabuay, we invite readers into a loving conversation between father and child, reflecting on the joys and challenges of parenthood – moments of laughter, worry, pride, and unconditional love.
Jim Rooney Collaborations
What began as a private discussion about the impact of the NFL’s Rooney Rule has evolved into a broader of exploration of sport’s power to strengthen organizations and bring people together.
Jim and I lead honest, often difficult conversations for Fortune 500 executives, university communities, and others using lessons from sport to help dismantle the barriers that divide us.
